♻ for a glimpse at an AU of my muse

J’hasi continued pushing shells into his shotgun, ears flicked back as Shadows bared his teeth at him in the low light of the garage.

“You need me. You’ll be dead in two days tops. It’s dangerous out there, and I won’t be there to save your ungrateful ass.” The Khajiit pumped the shotgun, loading the chamber before pushing in one more shell to top it off and tossing it into his trunk on top of the dozens of guns laying there in a gleaming pile.

“I don’t trust you, so what’s the point of staying here? Are you going to sell me off to some demon next time? Use me as bait for a vampire? Hell, have me be your meat shield, your expendable battering ram against zombies? No. I’m fucking done.” He grabbed the false bottom of the trunk, about to pull it down before Shadows grabbed a silver knife from its sheathe, shoving him into a pile of tires, blade at his throat.

“You forget I let you live. You were bitten. You’re one of them. But I let you live.” Now it was the Khajiit’s turn to bare his teeth, ears pressing flat against his head.

“So you’ll tattle on me now? Let every hunter know within a hundred miles that big bad Stalks-In-Shadows got his little brother infected? How do you think they’ll react when they find out how I got infected?” J’hasi hissed as the silver edge just cut into the skin of his throat, burning like a son of a bitch and making his claws sink into the tough treds of the tires under his hands. Shadows’ pupils were slits, barely visible against the vivid orange of his eyes.

“I could kill you right now. You know just as well as I do that I know how to take care of a body. You’d disappear, like a ghost.” J’hasi smirked, even as a slight grimace from the blade ruined it, it gave the effect he’d wanted.

“Go ahead. You didn’t before, so surprise me. Sweep me under the rug like all the other mistakes you’ve made. Make me disappear, like I never existed. Or I’ll do it my damn self.”
