The Fool: When has your character been excited to start a new journey?

Besides when he was a kid and Sees was like ‘hey grab a basket, time for going into the deepest darkest part of the swamp where all the Scary Shit lives’?

I don’t think he was too thrilled about starting his Morrowind Main Quest Bullshit, he mainly was just glad to be out of jail and away from Imperials and OMG GOLD REALLY OMG I CAN EAT FOR DAYS!! He very much disliked playing messenger boy between the Imperial at the Census Office and the Imperial in Balmora because what if the papers written in Cyrodilic letters say to kill him once he delivers them?? He did get excited once it fully clicked that he was free, only to get upset about this weird Nerevarine Prophecies stuff and what the fuck? He didn’t want this!

He was excited to go to Cyrodiil once he was well enough to travel after the mess of the Bloodmoon Prophecies, both because he wanted to find Caius and because NO ONE RECOGNIZES HIM. It was so nice! And then he got a job where he steals shit and gives it to the people who actually need it, which was even better! The whole ‘Oblivion pouring in through holes in the world’ thing he wasn’t too jazzed about, but hey, everyone was doing their best to close them! And that Martin guy was pretty cool too, even if he didn’t realize that he was the Emperor for like…weeks… Cyrodilic is hard, okay?

I think J’hasi was more excited in general when he met up with Jeer-Rah shortly after the Accession War and the two of them had a sweet roadtrip to High Rock to try and find a cure for his lycanthropy (even if he was…upset…after Shadows crashed the feels party and had his heart ripped out of his chest…).

High Rock was initially anxiety-inducing because what if the Dark Brotherhood caught on that they killed their Listener and were following them and were going to take revenge when they least expected it? But after a while, it was a nice feelgood trip for the two of them, yeah they’re dealing with witches and libraries, Breton politics and gossip, getting run out of town because Jeer-Rah doesn’t speak a lick of Cyrodilic and offending someone BUT THEY’RE HAVING A GOOD TIME. Like honestly, the years he and Jeer travel together is some of his best memories because he missed his best friend for years and managed to find them again and Jeer missed him too and it’s just…so many good feels man…

I don’t think he really got more than a ‘okay, time to go’ sort of vibe on trips after Jeer died. Even with Maarzi, since typically their trips were merc work and he’s never too thrilled about those, and then during and after the Great War it’s usually a survival thing, so not really an excitement thing. The Great War really messed him up. I hope he gets excited about trips again soon :c
