@brielleroux

The Khajiit pulled gently on Ghost’s mane to get her to stop, checking the crumpled note Sergius had given him for the pickup job he had to do. Riften, one silver amulet from Indaryn. Whoever that was. When J’hasi looked back up to the road, he could see Riften’s stables already, glad that his little shortcut hadn’t gotten them both lost. He gently nudged the mare’s ribs to get her to follow the cobblestone up to the gates, shivering a little at the cool breeze rustling the leaves of the trees and going across the back of his neck.

He technically was supposed to do his pickup and go right back to the College. But he’d had a hell of a time getting Urag’s book for him at the last tomb he had to crawl through, plus bandits on the road, on top of the two contracts he’d slogged through, and the homework he had to complete before classes on Morndas, said classes he still struggled to comprehend what he was supposed to glean from it…

It had been a few weeks since he’d last visited Brielle too, and her company would be a welcome relief, even if only for an afternoon. The Khajiit smiled, patting Ghost’s neck.

“You behave around Scamp, okay? Don’t get too rough with him.” he teased lightly, Ghost snorting in response as she slowed to a halt at the stables, shaking her head to rid herself of a leaf or two that had gotten caught in her mane.

…Now I’m picturing some cranky farmer chasing bby J’hasi away from his crops with a rake, the poor bab 😂

[Definitely happened. A lot. I mean, he was p well acquainted with guards and jail cells and being in Big Trouble before he got his ass carted to Morrowind. Doesn’t help that he couldn’t speak a lick of Cyrodilic, though he learned to cuss in it lmao]

{{ I love Cyrodiil BECAUSE it’s so whitebread? Like. Y’all are a bunch of problematic stereotypical Western High Fantasy trashbags, it’s ridiculous, and for some reason it amuses the hell out of me. All of my Imperial characters are petty little shitlords, though. I could see watermelon itself growing really well in southeastern Cyrodiil, where it’s generally pretty humid and rainy and probably doesn’t even get particularly cold in the winter. Kind of like the American south, climate-wise?

[I mean I know Cyrodiil was originally supposed to be tropical in climate, but then the game came out and something about Talos or a Dragon Break or some sort of magic/divine fuckery that’s p common in TES made it possibly temperate??

I always thought of it being temperate to right on the border of tropical just so I didn’t get an aneurysm trying to figure out what the fuck was going on (obvs the northern part being much closer to temperate but iirc the game starts end of summer/fall?? WHY IS THERE SO MUCH SNOW)

And according to the map it’s grown all over sans Bruma area so… Though watermelon only takes about 100 days to grow properly (climate?? Not sure if prime climate or just in general) so maybe you just get smaller ones more north than in the south. Maybe the devs just wanted to drive TES nerds up a wall.

There’s a map showing where the farms are so I’d think that around Leyawiin (which I think would be much closer to tropical, ofc since it’s so close to Elsweyr/Black Marsh and just seems like a wetter climate in general) you’d get these nice big melons, while just north of the Imperial City you’d have smaller ones if you tried to grow them outside of summer. I have no idea of the actual scale of Cyrodiil, or how quickly climates shift from area to area, and I haven’t played in so long I don’t remember the landscape all that well, I’d have to look;;;]

{{ I’m super allergic to watermelon usually… but I wonder if I could get away with eating the Moon-and-star variety because it looks delicious 😗 Also I am all for Cyrodiil having all sorts of produce you just can’t get in Skyrim. If it doesn’t grow indigenously, you’d bet your ass they’d find a way to import the yummy stuff and start growing it within the province, if possible }}

[I’d check with a doc or have an epipen at the ready coz I’m not sure how different it is/if it still has the bits you’re allergic to but but yeye I getcha I kinda wanna get one too O3O

And lmao yeah Cyrodiil’s just like ‘oh I like this. And this. And this too. This is mine now. Long live the Empire.’ I’m likely to give the farms a complete rundown at this rate to find out what’s imported and what’s not because…I honestly never gave Cyrodiil much of a rundown because it seemed so whitebread to me. But I should give it a better look, I gotta, J’hasi’s been there for a decent part of his life, possibly survived off of nicking stuff here and there from the farms… I gotta know how much trouble he’d get for nicking watermelon and the like lmao]

[Ok, useless watermelon fact time!

They grow in tropical and sub-tropical regions, but since I live in a temperate area and we can grow watermelon (and the plant requires

25 °C (77 °F) and higher to thrive), it’s totally reasonable for Cyrodiil to grow watermelon, at least south of Bruma area, though Skyrim would definitely be out of range for growing it unless some particularly determined mage/horticulturist made a special greenhouse or something to grow them, so it would likely have to be imported.

Also apparently there is a kind of watermelon called ‘moon and stars’. This delights me.]

5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?

A few stray drakes (he keeps the majority somewhere else), crumbs from various treats he’s had to stuff in his pockets (for differing reasons), his pouch of jerky (don’t eat it, it’s people and heavily spiced), and some odds ‘n ends like bits of flint, bones, scraps of parchment, small things that caught his interest in some way. His hands like to hide in his pockets too. It makes his fidgeting a little less obvious.

15. Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?

J’hasi only likes gold to the extent that it can get him food and a place to sleep, supplies and gear if need be. He’s never had a lot of money until the Nerevarine business, and a majority of it went right to food when he was unsupervised. He’s never liked the idea of gathering up more wealth than is needed to live comfortably, especially when there’s so many who can’t even afford a crust of bread to try and feed themselves.

He’s generous to those who don’t have a whole hell of a lot, if anything, and when he returned to Cyrodiil he was totally the kind of thief that would steal only from rich targets and distribute his ill-gotten gains to those who needed it more than he did. After all, his ‘job’ kept him fed and his gear in decent shape. Getting some food and clothes, even shelter to those who need it is higher priority.

His ‘material possessions’ don’t typically last too long, aside from his spear and a few other assorted things. Only things that have been given to him by people who are important to him are the only things he’ll fight tooth and nail to keep. Otherwise…he’s got a long road ahead of him, and he’s always traveling, so hoarding material possessions isn’t a good idea in the first place, if he was even inclined towards that sort of thing. He tends to lose things in fights and skirmishes too. Or yet another set of clothes when he uh…gets a little too angry.

25. How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?

Answered! But speaking of the Thieves Guild…

If you happen to be in the same guild as him, it takes a long, loooong time for him to warm up to guildmates. Especially if it’s a business-related guild. He works on jobs alone when at all possible, and he dislikes people trying to ‘get to know him’ when he has little interest in participating.

He had a sponsor in the Thieves’ Guild who betrayed him after he thought they were friends during a job, and he’s had similar things happen when he agreed to take on contracts with another mercenary/adventurer/etc. Not to mention what happened to the last organization he was in…

He’ll be over here getting his assignments and leaving, kthx. No trusterino to be given out today by this guy.
